About the Chamber
As a member of the Port Hardy & District Chamber of Commerce you increase the visibility of your establishment, support your local business community, and have a bigger voice behind you as a governing body for local industry as a whole.
Members are eligible to participate in the BC Chamber of Commerce Employee Benefits Program, dental and health insurance for 1-50 employees, enjoy preferred VISA and Master Card merchant packages (paper and electronic deposits, Interac Direct Payment and Terminal Rentals), receive gas discounts on Shell's or Esso’s Fleet plan card purchases, save on your long-distance calls through Primus, and display your business cards/ brochures/promotional materials in our office year-round. The Chamber also employs seven Visitor Information Counsellors from May through September, including one aboard B.C. Ferries' Northern Adventure, and their primary responsibility is to promote our Chamber members.
The Chamber holds monthly General Meetings wherein keynote guest speakers advise members on the latest trends and advances in the business world, and information pertaining to the local business community. You have a vote at the Annual General Meeting where you can select the new Executive or run yourself. The Chamber is also involved in a number of special projects including Filomi Days, Pumpkin Patch Walk, on-job-training programs with PHSS, and provides public forums for the community on a variety of issues pertaining to local businesses and the community-at-large.
If you are contemplating starting a new business and require assistance in determining just what it is you have to do, we would be happy to go through the preliminary stages with you. We hope you choose to become part of the non-profit organization that works for and with you to better our business community. |
